You know, I've seen some fanfic writers like that, too. I used to be frustrated when I'd finally find a fic in ::name that fandom:: that was long, plotty and well-written... except for the constant weeping and death and awful stuff that happened every chapter. I was feeling entitled once and wrote an author asking why she couldn't tell a story without relying on forced angst to evoke emotion and I got the reply that "life was suffering" and she was reflecting true life. Er.

Anyway, I learned my entitlement lesson but avoid that shit LIKE THE PLAGUE.
