Saiyuki Gaiden OVA!

So, I finished watching the Saiyuki Gaiden OVA. Blood, lots of blood. And guts.

And the worst? Goku cries through the whole thing. I think it's easier to endure when one could only read Goku crying, and not need to listen to or watch it.

I'm heartless, y/y?

I know for a lot of people Gaiden is weep-city, but it pushes my "I'm being manipulated" buttons so, so hard, setting off my "WTF" alarm.

Mostly, though, I enjoyed it, if only for Kanzeon Bosatsu, seeing Li Touten get his, for Goujun (whom I really liked more in this than ever before), and the opening song. ;)

You can come sit by me. I didn't cry at Gaiden at all, either, for the same reasons.

The art is gorgeous, though, isn't it? And HELLZ YEAH Kanzeon is fantastic, Touten gets his, and Goujun is definitely more engaging.

I don't think I cried either...I felt so heartless! I think you've got it figured out...it's the manipulation!

I agree, easier to read than listen to and yeah, all about manipulation. I'll admit to crying, but over Kenren and Goujun, that scene kind of got to me, not Konzen and Goku. But I freaking cry over commercials so it doesn't really mean much if you ask me. And I really thought the Tenpou dragging scene went on waaaay too long.

But Kanzeon was awesome.

The Kenren and Gojun scene was really good! I enjoyed it even more in animation, I'll admit it.

Tenpou is ... hmm, for me. I'm not really sure that I like Tenpou. He's almost too badass, too twisty and clever, and his faults habits are almost too twee to be real on their own. It's hard to explain. I do like Kenren a lot more, and I appreciated Konzen more as Gaiden went on, because he learned so much.

(And you totally Get them. If you ever, for example, wanted to write more Kenren and Gojun without Tenpou, I would not discourage you at all. HAHA)
