I've always wondered what exactly protected Sanzo from turning into a youkai like Hakkai. - If it was because he had a long-distance weapon so he wasn't "bathed" in the blood, or if was because he was keeper of Sutra's and one of Heaven's chosen, or something else.

Youkai Sanzo is scary as crap! The image of him in the blood-stained robes ripping apart enemies was so vivid. The line about a man screaming who never screamed was chilling.

I also feel sorry for Gojyo, who does indeed seem to always be the one picking up the pieces.
