Cool Stuff For ME

If I'm not careful, I shall make this the Journal of Squee! Even after my bounty of last week, I have received a couple more absolutely cool things that I want to share.

First, the incomparable storymistress ladylotusmoon surprised me with an anime Ouran High School Host Club fic for my birthday! Awesome. It's Tamaki/Haruhi (worksafe) and very sweet and clever, incorporating some of the rose imagery that I loved so much from the anime, as well as a wonderfully IC and funny discussion between Tamaki and Kyouya that I could just see. Go read it-- it's called Red Japanese Rose.

Then, I received an amazing little painted warrior-ess from minidrag33, who does some really awesome painting of very small figures. There are pictures under the cut-- thankfully she takes better up-close pics than I do!



minidrag33 said the figure is "Finari," and here's one of her good photos, taken by the painter/gifter:



She's living in my antique printer's box; it's one of those wooden trays they used to use in the old days to hold the letters for printing, and I got it when I was a teenager to hold little things. It's proudly displayed by the stairway when people walk in our front door. So my girl is not tucked away, but is sitting next to some of my prized possessions, like the Occupied Japan figurines I inherited from my grandmother and that neat little antique brass-slipper ashtray you can see in my crappy, out-of-focus photo:



Isn't she adorable? Look at the detail! And I love the little grass stuff she's standing on, and her "I dare you" stare.

It must be a very neat work, painting the face, the armour, and everything.

I'm so glad you're having a good birthday; you deserve it. The figurine is soooo cute!

I love antique furniture, and was wondering if I could convince you to post a picture of the printer's box? Is that a brass shoe? (I'm so nosy...)
