I finished reading this story last night at 3:30 AM, which means I only had 3 hours of sleep before college. But boy, it was worth it it. This is glorious.

I love the plot. It's something small, a vacation and a botched road trip, nothing epic and yet you managed to make it deep and meaningful trough their actions and thoughts. I love how believable everything was and how all the details made it so real. I could almost feel the heat and the dust and, well, everything.

I think your characterisation was spot on. America's stubborn refusal to accept he could not pass, his over-excited trust in Pookie (lol, he named the car 'Pookie'), his food, his romanticism. All of that was absolutely IC. England was perfect, too. I love how he keeps everything bottled up, how he knows what he feels but it's too scared/wary to actually say it. The same goes to America. I like how you played the similarities between them.

The smut was unbelievably hot. I always favour Top!England and this was just delightful. So hot but so, so realistic. I like all the little touches about elbows bumping and rocks sticking in the back and sun-burnt. Because no matter how much we want to idealise it, when you have sex in unexpected, un-orthodox places things don't always run smoothly.

The end made me squee. I actually grinned and sighed like the mad woman I am. The pub-in-the-plane was so utterly romantic and thoughtful! Oh, America, why so lovely!

All in all, a wonderful piece that I'll re-visit in the future.
