I spent a lot of money and I am spoiled

Money! I wish I had it. I don't know if I've said this here before, but I knew that when I bought a house, I would have only a limited amount of spending money. I just didn't realize that all of that spending money would be spent on stuff for the house. D'oh! But I'll tell you about some of the exciting things I've gotten. ;)

I had a broken window replaced ($290). I just called a chimney repairman. I bought a new gas range! I suspect that the one that came with this house was probably brought here from another, previous house, because it's really old. None of the indicator lights work, a couple of the dials are broken, and the dials that are not broken are worn off so I can't read them. I've been cooking by guestimation and observation of flame heights.

It's been working, but once I realized that I sometimes didn't know when my oven was OFF that it was time to just spend the money for one. So after a trip to the local HH Gregg (appliance store) and seeing how much the things cost, I decided to try the Sears Outlet and bought a scratch-n-dent. It's brand-new and a very nice range, with cast iron on top, a warranty, and a dent on the side that NO ONE will ever see because it'll be tucked away into its cubby-hole in my kitchen yay! And it only cost me $350, plus delivery and installation (very reasonable).

And admittedly I did whip out my (formerly paid-off) Macy's card for a shoe sale. I haven't really shoe- or clothes-shopped all summer, so I went a little nuts. I bought five pairs of shoes! But they were on clearance! I got me some Kenenth Coles and some Anne Kleins and some saucy gold, strappy Joan & David heels:

And I'm such a lucky girl to have such nice parents; Mom will be here on Wednesday to meet the stove-installer and Dad has agreed to meet the chimney-man later in the week. Mom took my car to the auto place today. They paid for dinner when I showed up tonight (Chinese takeout). Mom bought me a ton of yard stuff - landscaping fabric and anchors and recycled rubber mulch (I can't stand wood mulch) - and she helped me put the stuff all over my hill to keep the weeds out until I can find some plants next spring. I am SO SPOILED.

Oh! Oh! Speaking of, I've found an awesome grass/ground-cover that I want a few clumps of for my hill: Japanese Forest Grass. A neighbor has some and it's lovely. Here's some info on it: http://www.rainyside.com/plant_gallery/grasses/Hakonechloa_macraAureola.html

Have a great week, everyone!

Woo! I'm so glad I gave the outlet store a try. Mom and I, in fact, were shocked at the great prices on stuff. I got a full set of queen-sized sheets for $15! (Hee, you know we shop too much at Macy's when stuff like that excites us.)
