I think the thing is, when you get out of the habit of posting, you feel you need to write everything, or somehow be substantial. Which is why I post so much daft such!

How's householding these days? Did your garden survive the long, long, long, endlessly long winter?

Not too bad, thanks-- I've spent my tax check on the house, but that means soon I'll have an installed water softener WOOT!

And OMG, the weather and the yard ... it's like, we had that last snow, and then suddenly the weeds and flowers and trees and everything just bloomed at once! Our lilacs are two weeks late but man, we have SO MANY of them! It smells wonderful around here at last.

How is your greenery up there?

*weeps* We had another snowstorm the day before yesterday. I have a couple of sad little daffodils at the side of the house. Everything is budding, but the temperatures are still erratic and nothing wants to risk an actual bloom. Tomorrow it's supposed to get up to close to 20ºC/68ºF, so maybe we will start to have some green.

Is the water really hard in Indiana?

My water is rock-solid! I'm on municipal water but somehow it's just full of iron. So everything gets this crust on it and my faucets leak and it's awful. I can't wait for soft water. :)

And AW, MAN! That stinks. I sure hope your warm weather tomorrow gets everyone jumpstarted.

Water softening is definitely required then, not to mention a decent filter for the tap. Iron is noxious. I heard somewhere recently that, over the long term, it causes the arteries to thin, which is pretty scary as side-effects go.

We get the crust effect, too, but because of too much lime, not iron. Still, it's a pain when it builds up in the faucets and kettles. And nothing, but nothing, will scrub it off a shower curtain. Not even vinegar, which usually dissolves everything like that.
