Random Belated Updates As Per Usual
I really am behind and I apologize if I've missed something important on your journals, my friends! But I think the PMS was just bad last week and I'm only now coming out of the blahs. :)
Shoot, I had a three-day weekend and like 10 fics I wanted/needed to write, but only got 188 words written ("A Strength" for the 15-minute "58" challenge at
saiyuki_time). Now, I've gotten some very kind comments and
inksheddings made an excellent argument for brevity when necessary recently, but I'm used to having to force myself to stop writing! I would whine that quitting smoking has made me write less except I've actually completed two pieces since I went off the nicotine. So it's just me and my blah.
I went to Indiana to visit mom a couple of weeks ago. Mom is doing great! I drove her to a couple of her radiation appointments and got to meet her doctor and everything. And I met lots of women with no hair waiting for their radiation appointments and I was glad both because (a) those gals are the survivors, yay! and (b) my mom does not have to have chemotherapy and go through what they went through. Oh, and I shopped. A LOT. I bought three or four pair of shoes and three dresses and probably a dozen tops and a couple pairs of croppy pants and stuff for
sharpeslass ('cause I'm a GOOD friend) and OMG, I love Von Maur so much. I wish they had one here. An interest-free charge, and their stuff is about Nordstrom-level nice without the Nordstrom hassle (driving downtown, finding parking, etc).
sharpeslass and I watched some nine episodes of Antique Bakery-- the anime. What a strange little show. The MELODRAMA! The PASTRIES! The GOOFINESS! And yet, it's somehow also manages to be touching at times. I read that they made a Jdrama of it, and removed all the gay. Wha? It seems the gay is the point.
EDIT: OH, and I forgot to mention that I've read Azumanga Daioh 1, 3 and 4 and I loved them utterly. They cracked me the hell up, so much so that I was laughing out loud on the plane. God, I love the teachers. And Chiyo-chan. And Sakaki with the Iriomote Cat.
Other than that, it's really freakin' hot outside. I guess that would be LAS VEGAS IN JULY, but still.
Hope everyone is well. :)

Glad to hear your mum is doing good! That's awesome news!!
And yeah...not a fan of summer. At least LV doesn't get the humidity we have up here. Bleh... :P (You know it's hot when the dog just lies on the floor and whines at you...)

I don't mind the summer, I'd just like it to hover around 95 or so, so we can sit outside without baking in our own skin. Ew!
::hugs::

Yeah, me and the sun aren't friends. Even with SPF50, I still manage to burn...

I've been meaning to catch this Antique Bakery thing, but instead I am now glued with both eyeballs to WK. Oh well, I'll get to it eventually!
I'm so glad to hear your Mum is doing great! ♥

What are you thinking of WK? I asked M if she'd like to give it another try and the answer was "no." I figured I'd ask again after she's been softened up by everyone's talking about it. :)
::hugs::

I love WK. The anime is cracky and silly as all get out, just like you all said, but.... I love it. Apart from Farf, who I want to seriously kill from annoyance.
Saiyuki is my religion, but WK is the first other anime to get me excited since I discovered Saiyuki. The rest I've toyed with ;) Still, nothing will drag me away from our boys though ;) *pets Gojyo*
Damn M. Oh well, if you can't sway her, you can't sway her!! :)

I loooove Antique Bakery. It's my favorite manga (shhh, don't tell the ikkou) and one of my very favorite animes. And there's a Korean live-action movie that doesn't remove the gay.
Mwah, you!

Antique Bakery is your favorite, really? Hee. I'd considered checking it out somewhere if it's scanlated. Or translated at the store. Is it ongoing? And the Korean movie was good? :)
OH I forgot to mention (adds to post) that speaking of favorite manga, I read Azumanga Daioh and adore it so very, very much. It gave me such giggles and squiggles. Have you read that one?
no subject
I haven't read Daioh! I've heard good things, though, so I think I'll have to put it on my list!

Goodness I love super-saver free shipping!::

It was only 98 here over the weekend. Want. To. Die. Or kill someone. XD
no subject
Wow, 98? Aren't you in the Pacific Northwest? Woo...
98 here is pretty nice-- no humidity.

Actually I grew up on the "other" side of Oregon. The DRY side. Seriously. 110 in the summer and 0 in the winter with 13" of annual rainfall (Yes I know, more than you, but a lot less than the 40" of Portland.)
Less than one hundred miles away.

Have you seen the anime or the live action Japanese?

We did finish the anime, and it was sweet but oddly anticlimactic. I'm not sure why, but I have a bit of a thing for Tachibana. And I wish he'd shave the mustache-- and I usually love facial hair. I'm curious to see the manga now, too!

Ah the muses...stubborn bastards all. Mine are finally getting down to the uh - meat - of the whole 7thnight thing, after much beating around the bush (am I mixing my metaphors here? Oh well - that just shows the state my muses are in).
and yes...the gay IS the point. I think anyway. Though the Jdrama has merit I've been told.
no subject
And your metaphors may be mixed but they're appropriate! Beating, meats, etc. I didn't just say that. :)

A friend of mine just got back from Vegas, and it said it was hot as Hades! We're having a surprisingly mild summer here, even though my area is notorious for humid summers.
Sounds like you've been watching/reading quite a few new things! =)

We've been trying stuff, and then I ended up starting to re-read Saiyuki (after the recent spate of awesome new chapters). Saiyuki really is very, very good. (Duh!)
