Really, I'm not a cat murderer. I'm a vegetarian. I'm supposed to wuv the wittle animals, right?

[livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass's cat peed on the couch again, a part of the couch which cannot be really taken off and cleaned. It wasn't entirely unexpected, since my recliner (my RECLINER, sniff) was dragged to the curb a couple of weeks ago, and the couch has been peed on once months ago and cleaned and scratched all to heck despite the use of softpaws claw covers and sticky tape and citrus spray.

Not unexpected since, really, cats are supposed to destroy furniture, right? It's just.... now I cannot have my nice things anywhere the cat is allowed to be, like my pillows and afghan and quilt that my mother hand-made for me... grrr.

The cat is 15 years old and recently had a bladder infection, which explains the recliner (I'll never be able to afford another RECLINER, sniff), but she sleeps on the exact spot she peed on! Why would a cat pee where she sleeps? She doesn't seem senile, and the vet said she's pretty spry for an elderly cat. And the cat loves me to the point of obsession, so it's not personal, I don't think. ;) And we've lived here almost a year so it's not like there's anything in the house (except my room, cat-free-zone) that doesn't smell like her already. So Why, God, Why?

The cat is once more locked up in [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass's room, meowing all to hell and I don't feel sorry for her and does that make me a bad person?

I'll be over it tomorrow, I'm sure. It's just furniture. Except once we ditch the couch, because I refuse to have something around that smells like cat pee despite the use of odor removers, where will I sit to play video games? It's the last piece of furniture in "my" living room.

Oh well, just venting. Sigh.

*giggles* I'm not a big fan of cats, I far prefer dogs. Some cats are really sweet, like my friend [livejournal.com profile] genesisangel's pet kitties are the best. I'm allergic to the wee beasties in any case, so it's just as well I'm not overly fond of them.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with the cat. It sounds like it all has to do with her being elderly.

Have they checked her kidneys, too?

And wish I had a solution about how to keep things nice. But once a cat learns to do that (or has the desire to do that), it's nearly impossible to stop the behavior.

Good luck!

Ha, that's funny. I prefer dogs too, and am also allergic to cats. Except this cat. I am not allergic to her at all. She would be the perfect cat, if she were not fur-coated Eeevill! ;)

Yes, cats can be adorable, but can also be hellish at times too. Of course, it sounds as if this problem is related to age and health issues and not just a cat being spiteful or purposefully disobedient. Still, its a hassle. Hang in there! (And here's a little Lancelot to hopefully make you smile.)

I think they've checked them, and for diabetes and stuff like that. ::sigh:: The only piece of furniture I ever paid for myself was that couch... Oh well, I suppose the couch isn't worth committing cat-murder. :)
