start whine

I always thought that when I got a job where I could travel, that would be the coolest thing in the world. I've found, however, that traveling for work is kind of a pain in the patootie. A month ago was the lodge resort retreat at Lake Tahoe and all I could think was that there were bugs in the room and I was tired of meetings and I wanted my Internet access dammit.

This time it was Santa Fe and though I have an excellent boss who likes to shop and says cool things like, "why don't you want an apple martini or how about another glass of wine, and don't forget we have to buy that hat you liked tomorrow," driving past the scenery to meetings is just not as fun as traveling for travel's sake, or even as fun as sitting around a friend's apartment reading fanfiction watching Hornblower again and again. (Me = geek.)

Late today was dentist. One crown being replaced for the third time. I swear next time I'm telling them to pull the damn thing. I think $2000 or so is more than enough to spend over the lifetime of a single tooth, right?

And I missed the release of the Star Wars DVD. Oh well, it'll give us something to do this weekend. We won't have to stay sober because we already know what happens. :)

::end whining::

It is cool to get to see new cities, so I shouldn't bitch. On to finishing my latest Hornblower fanfiction... and YES it's het. Bwah hah hah!

Kristen :O)

I am completely with you. I don't like business travel. For me, it's the extra sense of wanting (or needing?) things to go well for the sake of your job. Not wanting to do anything *too* stupid in front of your co-workers. If things don't go right, it's a problem for other people and not just you.

Plus, when you choose to travel on your own, you choose the time to accomodate your personal life. Business chooses that for you.

But, then again, I am anal. So that just might be why I don't like business travel.

Oh. And my sympathies on the tooth. My life got so much better when we gave up and pulled my bad tooth. It was just causing so many other infections and small cavities that it wasn't worth keeping it.

They pulled it and within a week my mouth was back to normal.

Now, of course, I'm trying to save up for an implant. Kinda wondering if it's really worth it, though.

Well, this one hasn't even had a root canal yet. I did have a root canal that went bad and I finally said, YANK! :)

But as for implants... I've known two people who opted for that but neither of them have had good luck. It's apparently been nothing but pain, pain, dentist visits, pain, money spent. I'm sure that's not always the case, but I guess I would weigh it against where the tooth is (can anyone see it missing?) and how much you need it. (Oh, and any new technology. Where is Dr. Crusher when you need her?)

Bwah hah!

Sonia, I've written several smutty het pieces. I apparently need to update them on my website, because the only place they are is on a mailing list. This story, however, will need a plot. ::Gasp::

Help Sara!! (Plot guru) :)

Do you write, BTW, Sonia?

That is a most excellent icon!

Do I write? Well, I've written a few Stargate fanfics (one mildly smutty), and I'm currently working (very slowly) on a novel. All in all, I haven't produced much.
