Drive-by update

Am not dead. Have just been doing stuff, like everyone does stuff. :)

It's been hotter than hell, here in Las Vegas. This is supposed to be "monsoon season," and apparently Tucson is getting some nice rain, but no, not us. We're getting (I wrote this in an e-mail and liked it) no thunderstorms but a few, frightened clouds scurrying across the blazing-hot desert sky. It's like 114 or something equally horrible. Dunno why-- maybe I'm just old-- but the heat this year has really been kicking my butt.

We had a nice 4th-- a local fangirl friend came by and hung with me and sharpeslass. We squeeed muchly, and had a blast as always. There were supposed to be fireworks in our "master-planned community," but we really didn't see anything other than the usual-- oh, and a long-distance view of fireworks somewhere on the Strip.

I have finished two stories this weekend-- a completely gratuitous Saiyuki het epic based off a totally crack!episode of Reload, with a few piddling yaoi overtones, which I will probably post here and torture you all. Oh, and my 7thnight_smut fic, about which I am wibbling. I liked it; will the requester want to kill me? ;) Sharpeslass wrote a totally awesome Hakkai/Gojyo, which I will post for her soon.

Yeah-- I should just quit smoking or risk getting heatstroke going outside to smoke. ;)

Oh, where are you going to be? Conference or something? :) We could definitely do lunch or dinner or something and say HI after so long.

Nope, no Jadecon. It's hard to go to Indianapolis-- I'm going at the end of July, and it's hard to find enough time to see my parents and old friends! :)

Yeah, we've been getting a ton of rain. Monsoons started early this year. Sorry I can't send some of it your way, but we need it here, too!

Glad to see you're writing away, even with all that heat! Gah, I don't know how you can survive there. I'm such a weakling when it comes to really hot places. *g*

Usually I can take it, like a lizard-- "sun me on a rock!" This year it's all I can do to stay conscious when I'm outside. :) (And it'll get up to like 122F for a couple of weeks.)
