'Puter Dead. Me Sad.

My poor computer hard-drive died. Just upped and quit working. And there's like 6 months of stuff on there that wasn't backed up... unfinished fanfictions, scans, pictures, you name it. :( That's what I get for not backing up regularly. But thehood ::waves:: says he will try to recover the memory from my poor, dead drive. Thankfully, he already knows about the gay porn type of stuff I have on the computer.

I did buy a sweet lil' Dell today... with more memory than I can shake a stick at. Though, of course, it'll take them a week to build and ship it to me. In the meantime, sharpeslass has promised to let me use her computer so that I can finish writing a story for her. Isn't she selfless?

Anyway, I'll have only sporadic e-mail/Internet access (i.e., at work on lunch-break) for the next week and a half or so. If you don't hear from me I'm not ignoring you. :)

Oh man.. that just sucks! *sympathy glomp*

I just recently got my new Dell. (Lovingly known as the purple monster) The OS had fatal errors within the first week. Weeeeee Vista is so fun... NOT. Luckily for me, both when my old laptop was giving up the ghost and the new Dell flipped out I saved all of my stuff gay porn on my external HD. It has saved my ass a couple of times.

I am so happy to hear that your roomie is unselfishly allowing you access to her computer. I know you are just chomping at the bit to finish that 585 fiction. I can't wait to read it!! *evil grin*

Oh pants, I thought you were joking when you said your hard drive had died!! That's crappy on a whole new level..shit.

At least you got a shiny new computer out of the deal. This is what we in astrology refer to as "Mercury goes Retrograde" or "anything fecking electronic will explode and any communication you attempt will just blow up in your face" and unfortunately it doesn't end until next month. *face palm*

Oh well, now you have lots of time to distract the monk write sharpeslass's story...

I've truly got my fingers crossed for all of your files to be saved. When my computer died last year, it was like my a little bit of my soul died with it.

My parents are also computer shopping. My dad keeps saying, "Why do I need all that hard drive space? Can't I get a smaller one and have it be cheaper?"

I, on the other hand, am quickly filling up my hard drive. I need to start saving up for a new one. And 8-year-old computer is bound to go soon.

It's bad that you lost so much stuff. I've experienced the same (damn virus) only it was 3 years' stuff.
