Ah, I'll admit that when I started writing this, I had a mental debate on whether or not to make America's dialogue (and inner POV) period-specific or modern, but eventually decided, because it was Hetalia, to give him a more "out of time" voice than England, while trying to keep the period setting and details as correct as I could. I can understand why America's voice didn't completely work for you, though. :)
