I am DONE Painting, YAY!

CAPSLOCK! I have been sort of out of touch because I've been painting forever. Pictures of my lovely new kitchen, including "before" and "after" pics:
Seriously, I've spent the last two weeks painting my kitchen... I don't know if any of you remember, so I'll post pics of the kitchen before I changed it up; it was darkish purple, ALL OF IT, even the doors and woodwork and ... there was a nine-inch-high "grapes" border around the top of the kitchen. I know, right? It was awful, awful. I spent so long painting because I first had to scrape the border off -- what fun -- and then wash all the walls and woodwork and baseboards and buy paint and stuff. Then tape it alllll up. Then paint. Then fix what I screwed up. But it's done now, woo!
ANYway. Here are a couple of "before" shots:

A close-up:

After I started scraping the borders:

NOW here's the lovely new color -- a sagey/springy green, with a light green border. My kitchen looks taller, bigger, and lighter. I love it so much and am so proud of myself:

By the way, here's the new gas stove I bought at the Sears outlet for $375. It's so wonderful to push a button and cook, I swear (the old one had missing knobs, worn-off knobs, and no indicator lights. I never knew what temperature I was cooking at). Oh, and check out the awesome 70s towel -- my Aunt Jean gave me a whole box of awesome 1970s towels.

And finally, the new curtains my mommy made me for the office, that we just put up today; it had a big, brown sheet for a long time. She converted the sheet and bought material to make the drapes and sheers:

The curtains really go with the yaoi, right?
Okay, done spamming. Now I have to clean for my housewarming party next Saturday. Come on down -- I'm making MARGARITAS! It's Octoberfiesta at Kristen's house. ♥

Date: 2011-10-17 01:47 am (UTC)In an homage to the grapes, I bought some fake ones at Hobby Lobby:
Edited to say, and thank you! :)

Date: 2011-10-17 02:00 am (UTC)They certainly didn't have much of a grasp of design elements, that's for sure. All that unrelieved purple ... *shudders*

Date: 2011-10-17 02:08 am (UTC)(Omg, the grapes - they would have given me nightmares. Honestly, they reminded me of the color bruises get when healing. Like the walls were recovering from the aftermath of some kind of mob violence or something. *shivers*)

If you lived like 3 states closer, I'd totally take you up on that! Oh well! :-P

Date: 2011-10-17 11:06 am (UTC)I love the new colour! So pretty! *_* My spare bedroom is painted a light green - the chip says it's called 'wasabi powder'. It's a nice, light, bright colour.
Very nice job!! ♥♥

Date: 2011-10-18 12:22 am (UTC)Thank you -- and I think I'll call mine "wasabi powder" 'cause that's an awesome paint name (though I think it was called Garden Shed or something like that).

Date: 2011-10-18 01:27 am (UTC)It is an awesome name. I chose the colour, and then was like OMG no way when I saw what it was called. ^_^ Sometimes, though, I don't get how they come up with names for these colours. Honestly, when I think of a garden shed, I think more of that red colour than green. ~_^
But I do love the new colour. So pretty...

Date: 2011-10-17 09:06 pm (UTC)Oh those grapes! The former owner of our apartment left the kitchen with wallpapers with hazel nuts on them >.<

Date: 2011-10-18 12:24 am (UTC)Hazelnuts! Not as bad as grapes, surely? Depends on what they were doing with the hazelnuts, I suppose...no subject
