Big-ish pic under the cut.

Here is my baby after she was groomed and prettified. My mom is holding her still, heh. Fuu is the just sweetest thing. She has been perfectly housetrained and behaves very well. Until, of course, she sees or hears other dogs, in which case she becomes a barking ball of bossy. She is learning to be quiet and calm down, though, when I tell her to.
And she's definitely getting comfortable, because she's starting to get a little mind of her own here and there, unlike her first few days where she just followed me around staring at me adoringly. She still smiles at me when I get up in the morning, though.
She's been to the vet and as you can see, the groomers, but OMG. Thursday she saw the vet, who said she did not have fleas. Friday I gave her a pill that is supposed to kill/repel fleas for a month, along with prevent heartworm and parasites, etc. She was groomed Saturday, and then Saturday night? COVERED IN FLEAS. What the heck? I picked like two dozen off her. I was so mad, because the pill is supposed to start working in an hour, and yet, here is my poor, scratching doggie. Today the pet-store lady told us to go ahead and just wash her in Dawn dishwashing liquid to kill the fleas, and then call the vet before I put anything else on her that might be just too much chemical at once. So she is washed again (two days in a row -- what torture).
But seriously, how does a dog get so many fleas that quickly? At the groomers? At the vet? Walking down the street? Argh. The joys of pet ownership. I am quickly going from "poor" to "very poor."
But she is my little girl and those fleas better not bother her no more! Darned things.

Date: 2012-08-13 12:38 am (UTC)I was recommended frontline by a friend, but then the vet sold me this other stuff. I'm going to call tomorrow to see what else I can do if they come back. :)

Date: 2012-08-13 03:52 am (UTC)Ugh, fleas. She could have picked them up at the groomers maybe? That happens sometimes. And I think the pills take several days to take effect (what pill did you give her, anyway?)
Revolution is what we normally use - a topical one - and it seems to work well. It's pricey though. That's the trouble with pets...they're always expensive...

Date: 2012-08-14 02:36 pm (UTC)And I agree that the fleas probably came from the groomers, with all those dogs and all those kennels smooshed together. She is on trifexis, which is supposed to take effect immediately? Well, now she's bathed and flea-free but still itching, so the vet suggested benadryl -- same stuff humans take!

Date: 2012-08-13 03:50 pm (UTC)The flea situation sounds horrid. I do hope the drugs start to take effect soon. It's nice that she's settling in so well, though.

Date: 2012-08-14 02:33 pm (UTC)And the vet says I can give her benadryl for itching -- the same stuff that people take!

Date: 2012-08-14 01:01 am (UTC)Frontline is good -- it will kill the ones in your house, too, because they'll jump on her and then "GAH!!"

Date: 2012-08-14 01:06 am (UTC)well, I have to wait a month for the Frontline if the trifexis pill doesn't work, because I can't be dosing her up with so many chemicals, says the vet. But she got a dishwashing soap bath yesterday, and an oatmeal moisturizing bath today.
And guess what -- she is SULKING. She is totally sulking because I took her outside and went to water the plants instead of going across to the neighbor's house and letting them coo over her. And I wouldn't get my keys and drive off with her in the car, despite the fact that she was standing next to the car looking at me very with clear intentions. She is so VAIN and I am totally BORING, apparently.
