ARGH

So when is winter going to be over? OMG, so, so tired of it. I guess we were spoiled the last couple of winters, weren't we? Because it was 60s-70s in March last year. I know this because that's how I found out I had termites. :) But still, there were tulips and daffodils blooming and I was buying plants.

The plants are coming up but they'll probably get frostbitten. I'm so, so very weary of the winds and 30s-40s and rain and dreary skies. I miss the southwest so very much at times like this. Oh, for palm trees and blue skies!

Okay, done whining.

Argh, indeed!! The northwest has been unusually dry, but I was at Ma's over the weekend and yeah, snow in the surrounding hills.

Stupid global warming.

It's +10ÂșC outside and I feel like a newborn lamb! Except I remember that it's only March and planting season doesn't start in Calgary until the Victoria Long Weekend (end of May) because of freak snowstorms, and then I feel like an old Mama goat. Bllaaaaah! Blllaaaaah!

We are up there at +3,700 ft., and yes, that's the main source of our spring blizzards. It's also the source of those warm Chinook winds that make everything feel like spring for a little while.

But seriously, all winter this year, it's been a cycle of 2 to 4 or more very cold days followed by the same number of warm, sunny, spring-like days, so the constant fluctuation is the only regular thing. And the ice.

Agree. The plant life here has to be seriously hardy. The only similar climate zone in the world is Patagonia.

But constant cold is wearing, too. Just remember, it's going to turn soon. It's almost April. In another month, you'll be swimming in blossoms.
