House! And Dog!
Jun. 4th, 2013 08:27 amSo, first off, I miss my icons when I use DW. :(
Anyway, here is a house and flower-planting update. Around Memorial Day is when the Hoosiers go nuts buying annuals and putting them everywhere they can, and I am no exception. Okay, maybe my mom and I tend to buy more flowers than a lot of people, but we like flowers. :) Other people have tasteful yards with a rosebush and a few shrubs, and we have every other thing they left at the garden store.
And pictures of the yard come with pictures of Fuu, because she must be into everything outside when we're there. In fact, I caught her chewing off part of my mini-barn yesterday, trying to get to chipmunks or something. CHEWING MY BARN in her desperation to get past the fence, the little shit.

Anyway, this above is last year when we set up my little patio area. See those little bunches of pink flowers, the Mexican Evening Primrose?

They totally took over, but it looks nice when you sit outside on my brand new for-my-birthday patio dining set! I just have to pull the darned things up from around the ornamental grasses and the poor, surrounded hydrangea. Oh, and there's Fuu in the back, nosing around the minibarn, probably hoping to chew out a chipmunk or something.

This is the front flower bed, complete with dog nosing around. Everything that bloomed has done so except for those STUPID DAYLILIES. Seriously, the people before me had a "daylily thing." I dug up about six giant ones and put them out front with a sign that said "FREE." And still I have these. I'm trying to find a perennial to replace them, one that is tall enough to show from the street and will provide flowers most of the summer long. The pot there, though, holds a few lantana that will be very pretty when they get bigger.
Here are pics of just a few of my annuals:

My rosebush at the side of the house is very happy:

And here is the dog, tired from her nosy exertions:

That's it! Thanks for looking.

Date: 2013-06-04 12:55 pm (UTC)I love flowers, too! I've got most of my gardening done, but have some perennial seeds to throw down when the daffodils finally die off around me street tree and I just bought some nasturtium seeds to throw in my front garden bed. They seem to thrive on poor soil, so we'll see. I bought a couple of daylilies a few years ago, and, yeah, they do spread!
