Don't try to post too many of these meme things, but I couldn't resist taking this one and seeing if ANYONE on my f-list even knows who this band is. Unfortunately, I scored horribly for someone who thought she knew every XTC song. Man, this guy pulled out some obscure demo and B-side stuff for this one.

Merely a Man
You have 63% knowledge of XTC lyrics!
You know your stuff pretty well, but the more obscure material is probably tripping you up. You're Merely A Man (or woman). You can't possibily be expected to know and remember everything, but you're definitely a fan. If you ever get more familiar with some of the less widely available material, come back and try again...I'll have nothing but love for you!

Yes, I remember them. And I even remember what two of the songs sound like ("Senses Working Overtime" and "Making Plans for Nigel") - after I went and looked at the first page of the quiz and reminded myself of what their songs were called. But I'm not even going to bother taking the quiz, since that is the absolute limit of my knowledge.

Sorry I couldn't rise to your level of obsession, but you are not (completely) alone.... :-D

Awesome! At least someone has heard of them and even knew two of their songs!! I think they're actually bigger in the U.S., if big can be used to describe them at all, even though they're from Swindon. :)

Err, yes, very probably (says the Brit who lives about 30 miles from Swindon...). ;-)

How did you get into liking them?

And love your icon, btw :-)

I hated them until the summer of 1989, when I drove from Indiana to Winston-Salem, North Carolina with some friends who played "Skylarking" over and over, the whole way. It became a matter of either like them or go insane. ;)

Their lyrics really are brilliant. And they have a very Beatles-esque sound.

So really, 30 miles from Swindon?? I get e-mails from the online XTC fandom discussing their various get-togethers and tribute shows which often happen there or nearby. They sound like total blasts, but alas, I cannot get there to join them.
