Palms. Scary. Getting Old Apparently.
Sep. 27th, 2004 04:42 pmI know now that I'm getting old. I live in Las Vegas. I like it. I like to go out to bars. But if you live here, there's a darn good chance you never set foot or car wheel on the Strip unless there is some sort of absolute necessity.
The Palms is just off-Strip, but apparently it is Cool. We go to the Palms to attend the movie theater (nicest in town) or to eat at the Mexican restaurant. But I was actually there after 9:00 on a Saturday night, for the first time.
SCARY. Full of trendy people. And they ALL LOOKED ALIKE. There were apparently two nightclub lines each with several hundred people. ALL ALIKE. All guys in jeans and unbuttoned shirts, and all girls in tank tops with those little ruffled skirts.
How do they tell each other apart? And why would they spend upwards of $1000+ a night to hang out at a club like that? To be fair, I suppose in my early 20s I would have thought clubs like that were cool. But last night I realized that I would rather gnaw my own feet off at the ankles rather than set foot in GhostBar or Rain. Does this just mean I'm old? :)
Though we did eat at "Elements" in the Aladdin. Food and service both vv good.
