I know now that I'm getting old. I live in Las Vegas. I like it. I like to go out to bars. But if you live here, there's a darn good chance you never set foot or car wheel on the Strip unless there is some sort of absolute necessity.

The Palms is just off-Strip, but apparently it is Cool. We go to the Palms to attend the movie theater (nicest in town) or to eat at the Mexican restaurant. But I was actually there after 9:00 on a Saturday night, for the first time.

SCARY. Full of trendy people. And they ALL LOOKED ALIKE. There were apparently two nightclub lines each with several hundred people. ALL ALIKE. All guys in jeans and unbuttoned shirts, and all girls in tank tops with those little ruffled skirts.

How do they tell each other apart? And why would they spend upwards of $1000+ a night to hang out at a club like that? To be fair, I suppose in my early 20s I would have thought clubs like that were cool. But last night I realized that I would rather gnaw my own feet off at the ankles rather than set foot in GhostBar or Rain. Does this just mean I'm old? :)

Though we did eat at "Elements" in the Aladdin. Food and service both vv good.

You're not old. Just sane.

I have never been able to take the whole bar and club scene. It does seem to be all the same people in some sort of uniform, the specs of which I never received.

I, however, am old. I actually made the complaint the other day that the current Top40 music all sounds the same to me. Sounded like an old geezer saying that.

Shoot me now.

LOL!

I always thought I was cool about knowing music, and I used to work in a music store. However, in the 90s. This is more than 10 years ago now. ::shudder::

And yes, people say have you heard this band? "who?" Or I'll say, that song's OK. The one that goes "yadda yadda blah." Who sings it? "Hell I don't know."

I still have trouble believing that there are sentient adults in the world who weren't born when Star Wars was released (sorry Liz).

$1000 plus a night???

*boggle*

As for feeling old, the other day someone was posting on a list how they saw Hardware Wars years ago when they were in 5th grade. Then they mentioned they were in 5th grade in 1996.
