jedishampooThis is my first time trying to put pics in my journal from the Scrapbook... let's hope the resolution is not too crap and the sizes are not too big! I'll do a couple of entries so as not to overload.
Big Island: this is sunrise in Hilo. It was always cloudy in Hilo, even when there was partial sun. And it rained every day for a bit. But that meant lots of rainbows, and that it was VERY VERY green on the whole coast. Plants like I have in my house, only ten times the size. Amazing!
Big Island: this next one is of 2003 lava over Chain of Craters Road in Volcanoes National Park. They had to move the bathrooms while lava came at them!
Big Island: Volcanoes National Park again. You had to walk over the hardened, crackly, treacherous lava from the last picture to view the steam plume from the current lava flow as it went into the ocean. We never saw red lava, but it was still cool.
Kauai: my mom's digital camera was stolen from her luggage by someone in some airport, so the rest of the pics are of Kauai. Doesn't Kauai look like Jurassic Park, rice paddies and all?
This is me at Ha'ena Beach park, on the northern side of Kauai. Beautiful cream sand, backed by green cliffs. They said the surf there was supposed to be more gentle, but I still got knocked around when I finally went in.
This next pic is the cliffs right behind the beach:
This is Shipwreck Beach in Poipu, on the South coast, right in front of the Hyatt Kauai. This is early a.m., at low tide. Still no shells! The surf breaks them apart.
