Wow, I read LJs but so rarely update...

Funny thing today... I wore a shortish skirt and a nice top, and so far five people at work have complimented me on my outfit. "Wow, you look nice. Why are you so dressed up?" Do I say, because I have gained so much weight since Thanksgiving that it is painful to wear my pants?

I'd actually lost four pounds a couple of weeks ago, but then I went to Nashville TN for a conference, and believe it or not, the vegetarian did not starve to death at all. Much yummy food in Nashville. I did get to have a lovely dinner at a neat restaurant with one of my Wanton ladies, dmlunsford, and I also got to finally meet Mr. dmlunsford, who is very cool. Thanks, for driving up to meet me! :)

I had to present at the conference and I'm still not pleased with the experience. I wasn't all that prepared, and then everything I'd prepared was WAYYY below the level of the attendees. I was talking on "how to start a legal publications program." Everyone in the audience already HAD publications programs, with STAFF. I have no staff. I AM the staff. Sigh. I need THEM to tell ME what to do.

Japanese class tonight. I know all my hiragana now but I sit there in class stuttering when the teacher makes us converse. My cheeks turn read 'cause everyone in the class is like 20 years old. ;)

That's what I hate about presenting at conferences. They never honestly tell you who your audience is going to be (if they tell you at all) so it's so hard to hit a homerun with your presentation. Even if you've been to the conference in the past, it can be hard to figure out.

I'm just impressed that you were brave enough to stand up and share your experiences. And I bet you inspired someone with your ideas.
