[livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass and I have been immersing ourselves in Star Trek again lately, a nice way to spend the summer. (Sitting on the couch, in the air conditioning, with cold beer/wine/Pepsi/diet Coke, and science fiction show of choice.) [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass had not seen all of the ST: Next Generation episodes, and I'd hardly seen ST: Voyager except for first season, so we're switching back and forth between series.

She is discovering the joy of awesome TNG episodes like Yesterday's Enterprise and I am amazed at the "soapiness" of Voyager. And I actually LIKE Seven of Nine. But I may be irreparably ticked off because [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass warned me to back off on my 'shippiness because Janeway/Chakotay do not ever get together. This is an unbelievable CRIME. Chakotay=HOT and obviously nuts about Janeway. Star Trek writers are so Eeeevil. Why do I bother to 'ship Star Trek? I am reminded of back in the day when I threw a fit every time Picard hooked up with a new set of space boobs.

At least the creators got Kira and Odo together in Deep Space Nine. But I'm still ticked over this Janeway/Chakotay thing.

Off to Indiana tomorrow... everyone have a great week!

I think that's what got Voyager fans so discombobulated. They started out with great characters. And then they just started changing everything around. And it wasn't in a "the characters are growing" kind of way. They just changed things. Quite disorienting.

I ended up appreciating Chakotay and Seven, but it still should have been Chokotay and Janeway. :)

WHAT?!? Are you kidding me? I watched the first season before moving to Guatemala and have always had in the back of my head that I need watch the rest of the series at some point so I can get the Janeway/Chakotay pay off. That's just fucked up.

D'OH! I did not mean to spoil you. I figured I was the last geek on earth to watch ST: Voyager. ;) (But if you were looking for the payoff at least you know better now.)

No worries! I appreciate it because if I invested all that time for a pay-off that wasn't coming... that would suck.

Kira and Odo were obviously meant to get together, it took long enough for them to finally do it... Season Six, wasn't it?

And i was never really into Voyager as much as DS9 so can't comment on Janeway/Chakotay

But I'm sure someone, somewhere has done fanfic wherein they get it together...

Well, like I said, I actually like Seven, but not sure how I'll feel about her with Chakotay... We just watched the one where the Hirogen (sp?) take over the holodecks and they're stuck in a 1940s WWII simulation... PERFECT time for Chakotay/Janeway to get busy. If counted by hours screaming in frustration, Star Trek actually makes me scream more than any other fandom. Though I did spend a lot of time screaming over KJA. ;)

Oh, there's fanfic all right... but it's hard to read it after the fact when one already knows that nothing will happen.

And you are so right-- Kira/Odo are TOTALLY OTP! I remember watching that season six episode where they finally get together, after four seasons of poor Odo angsting about how much he loves Kira, and then SQUEEEEE! Star Trek writers finally pay off. :)
