And I don't mean the type of shrines I saw in Japan-- of which I saw many. I mean Saiyuki shrines, Howl's Moving Castle shrines, that sort of thing.

It's good to have a roommate who understands fannish obsessions. Sometimes our fandoms coincide, often they don't, but at least we always understand where the other is coming from. Seriously; we have a 2200-sq.ft. house that looks like a toy, book and DVD store. :) So for my birthday, my roomie [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass took me out for sushi, is making MEAT BUNS today (vegetarian), and got me lots of Saiyuki fun things.

Pics of some of my b-day presents and shrines under the cut:

The "Saiyuki Shrine" in our front room. Manga in two languages, doujinshi, prayer beads, busts, artbooks, action figures, you name it. Today I acquired the Sanzo and Hakkai statuettes, some adorable chibi pins, a shitajiki, the little lacquered box, and more:

Close-up of those adorably bishounen and slender Hakkai and Sanzo figures. She actually purchased Gojyo, 'cause, well, he's Sanzo's boyfriend (heh), but the seller was apparently confused. Still, I don't mind a little Hakkai/Sanzo and the Jeep on his hand is awfully cute:

The Howl's Moving Castle Shrine. Today's addition is the 1000-piece puzzle from the Ghibli Museum, but my favorite is still the light-up Calcifer's fireplace (on the little shelf). Don't I have a nice roommate, who lets me put stuff like this in the front room?

And just for randomness, the Hornblower Shrine. The signed pic is from a co-worker whose son was in a movie with Ioan Gruffudd, the hat is from [livejournal.com profile] scaryfangirl, and the Fenton glass is a lifetime collection (I know there are other Fenton fanatics on my flist, right?):

And of course there's a Star Wars shrine, but it's a little... messy (meaning, overpacked) right now, so I was ashamed to show it. :)

Happy Mother's Day, everyone who is a mommy here!

My PC has some pretty pictures on the wall above, but other than that it's pretty basic. All our stuff is on display where the entire world (or whoever walks in the door) can see it. :)

Thank you!!
