jedishampoo: (wantons by me!)
[personal profile] jedishampoo
I had the pleasure of spending the weekend on the green, green East Coast with some of my fellow Star Wars ladies, joining a gathering to celebrate [livejournal.com profile] slyvermont's 50th birthday (and Thursday was [livejournal.com profile] dmlunsford's birthday, too)! I got to see [livejournal.com profile] jedihealer, [livejournal.com profile] dmlunsford, [livejournal.com profile] maiasaura (our hostess), [livejournal.com profile] cyndisuesue,[livejournal.com profile] nanluz, and [livejournal.com profile] econopodder!

Sadly, [livejournal.com profile] cyndisuesue had to leave us on Friday morning because of her mom's illness-- we missed you dear, and I'm thinking about you. The gathering involved 12" boyz, squeeing over Indiana Jones, squeeing over Episode 1 Obi-Wan-ness, squeeing over baby!Mark Hamill in the Partridge Family, and a carousel ride, eating, a birthday party with Thai food and presents, mojitos (I liked them, [livejournal.com profile] maiasaura!) shoe shopping, and a group pedicure! We also visited Steve and Barry's, where everything is $8.98 (wow) and I picked up some small items of clothing-- good thing I didn't bring my big suitcase, or I might have overbought. :)

I'm sorry I have no pictures-- visit [livejournal.com profile] dmlunsford for some-- because I suck at photography. I think [livejournal.com profile] slyvermont has my few photos. There was much happiness on my part because I got to see my womens after what, five years?

It's been dubbed "Tootsiecon." Awesome-- who came up with that one, anyway? It was also almost "Injurycon;" [livejournal.com profile] jedihealer took a slide down the steps, and [livejournal.com profile] maiasaura got a nasty knife-stab in the hand when cooking meals for Ghitsa. The emergency room saw a visit from her and she emerged with a few stitches and only ONE Vicodin from the cheap-ass, distrustful doctors. Thankfully there was wine available for just such an emergency. How's your hand doing, anyway, [livejournal.com profile] maiasaura?

I had a great time and miss you all. Over the next few years we've got some milestone birthdays coming up (I'm not saying what mine is) so maybe we can do it again, soon? :)

I also got to meet [livejournal.com profile] athena8, my fellow Saiyuki fangirl and 353er!

This was pure serendipity; I happened to comment on a post of hers that I was going to be in the area, and she just happened to live there! Awesome. We did some squeeing over Minekura-sensei's boys, had some more rational discussion of Minekura-sensei's boys, shopped in Bethesda a bit (I have several new manga) and had some coffee. (I need to read Wild Adapter-- I read Vampire Knight, and I like many of the male characters-- I LOVE the Headmaster-- but Yuki needs to stop being the blood bank, really. I mean, the boys are pretty but she's gonna run out of blood soon, heh!)

I love meeting such nice people-- I have been very lucky to meet several people in RL from my online fandoms.

And when I got back, Cho Melinda ([livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass) had read all Saiyuki manga (and agrees that they're brilliant) and had written me a clever, funny, sexy Sanzo/Gojyo story! Squee! Read it here:

Food for Thought

I owe her a Weyoun het; I did write a short Hakkai HetOMG. I may post it, but I may be too afraid. Heh.

Have a lovely week, y'all!

Dang. If I host a Wanton Weekend at my place, I'm going to have to come up with some fun stuff, too.

I mean, we had fun the last time just locking ourselves in the home theater. But still....

I'll have to plan with Luci the next time she's in town.

I'm glad you had fun! And love every age you reach. It's a fun ride.

Yeah, you've been volunteered as a possible home-base for next year's gathering. Bwah hah hah! I wish I could have seen you. :)

(I was in awe of Tish's preparations myself... I was like, in my house, you'd get chips, margaritas, and that's all.)

Glad to see you too! Hope the Sunday went well. :)

PS, I not-so-secretly covet your Will Turner 12" boy.

The hand is lovely shade of purple, still very swollen, and hurts like heck. But, it's getting, well, less swollen. Thanks for asking! You were a truly wonderful, wonderful guest and the dogs and rabbits miss you! It was wonderful to see you again and I very much look forward to another Con, in Vegas, Atlanta, and places in between!

OH YEAH, I forgot to say how nice it was to have so much critter time. :) Thank you so much, and glat to hear it's less swollen. :)

Serendipitous indeed! (is that a word?)

I'm glad you like the characters from VK! Zero is my favorite, but they're all lovely. Yagari is especially hot! *___* The eyepatch makes him even sexier if that's at all possible. *grin

As for your roomie...guess we can't win them all, huh? We are as you say, a small (but loud?) minority. ;)
