Jul. 10th, 2008 01:37 pm1) Please, please rain! It is so very hot here. We are having record temps and just going outside makes me want to pass out. And I know it will only get worse... 113 isn't the hottest July will be. ::whimper::
2) Going to Indianapolis soon, for a week's visit. I'm looking forward to seeing the family and everyone, but not to the humidity. At least it won't be 113 freakin' degrees there.
3) I've been reading Loveless, lent to me by my friend Vanessa. I'm on volume 5. Holy crap, what a messed-up series. Every time it gets messed up to the point where I'm like, "I hate Soubi and I can't tell what the hell is going on screw this," something is explained or they have a really cute "I do have friends" scene with Ritsuka. That poor, poor kid. Having to be careful what he eats or else his mom will go all psycho on his ass? Weep! And why is Dad so useless?
I actually like many of the characters, including the teacher and Yuiko and Kio and even 7. But Soubi... that boy has... problems. He's the most unpleasant person alive, surely. And I would say I got past that with Sanzo, but I dunno, Sanzo still grabs me, and I can see why people want to be with him, but I'm not understanding it with Soubi just yet. (People who have read it-- is Soubi explained a little more, later?) He’s pretentious, too. “I wear butterflies because I hate them.” Well, I guess he is a 20-year-old art student, so that might explain the pretentiousness. ;)
I think I’m upset because Soubi is so very needy that he just keeps messing with that poor kid Ritsuka, who's not even sure himself if he likes Soubi or not but is so desperate for freakin' affection that he'll put up with that "I'll always love you" and "I belong to you." Seriously. No wonder Seimei let himself be offed. He was desperate to escape Soubi. ::End Soubi Rant::
Well, it’s been frustrating but I guess at least it’s caught my attention. It’s a series with many layers, I must say.

Oh Loveless is very messed up, yes. It's a strange series I used to be into, but got kind of fed up with because of the long periods the mangaka leaves between chapters. One day, I will catch up with the more recent stuff. Soubi frustrated me, but I could see why he was like he was as more and more of his past was revealed, so stick with it and you may be able to understand the things he says/does a bit more.
