jedishampoo: (Christmas Kasumi)
[personal profile] jedishampoo
Holy heck, I have been spoiled so rotten on Christmas that I can still barely comprehend it all. :) My lovely roomie, [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass, and I got up, opened some goodies, ate eggs Benedict (made by her), drank champagne, and opened more goodies. And opened. And I kept opening.

I got some of the most amazing stuff. One thing I must share with you all, especially: a while back, the lovely and supremely talented [livejournal.com profile] saltcandy drew a Hakkai/Sanzo (PG-13) fanart that she said was inspired by a story of mine. I was in transports, of course, not only because of that but because the picture was gorgeous! Here’s the finished art post on saltcandy's journal.

Well, the sweet [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass got the originals, pencil and ink, from [livejournal.com profile] saltcandy (who kindly let them go), and framed them for me! I was absolutely amazed and nearly speechless and I still am, really. :) Below the cut, check out some pics of my schwag:

The lovely framed fanart that is still making me drool, as I post:

And [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass made me one of her famous decoupage boxes, this one with a nummy 53 theme:

Box outside:

Box inside:

And here's a pic of some of my goodies. This doesn't even begin to cover it, I don't think. See, though, a lovely Tortoro blanket (softest thing I've ever felt, I think), a Saiyuki clock, makeup from Urban Decay (YAY), books, DVD, Saiyuki CDs, a "watashi heart yaoi" shirt, posters. Her mother HAND-MADE me a kimono from the most gorgeous green and gold silky material: I'll have to try it on and have a pic later. Oh, it just keeps going and going and it's all wonderful:

Oooh, and go check out [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass's journal for pics of the AWESOME mahjong set that [livejournal.com profile] caeseria sent us, hee!

I am so, so spoiled and I don't deserve any of it. ::faints::

You deserve all of it, honey. You take care of me, are supportive of my efforts, deal with technology for me, and make sure I don't set myself on fire (very often) and generally put up with a lot of crap. I love you for it. And I love my stash of fabulous pressies too!! *glomps you*

Is dinner ready yet? Saaanzzoooo!!! I'm huuunnggrryy!!!

Looking forward to seeing the kimono pic. ^__~

Both are disgusting. Quorn was somewhat less vomitous than tofurkey.. but all the sides were super yummy and I had my own once-a-living-turkey-turkey, so it was all GOOD. Have some BUTTER cake!

All cool and wonderful...and I don't doubt for a minute that you both deserve everything you got for each other. You two take care of each other and that's worth more than anything. Aren't you glad Chris called me that one day oh so long ago, and said a "Club Jader" was moving to Vegas and that we should get together? At the same time Melinda and I had just discovered that we wrote/read fanfiction and therefore were destined to be friends? And look at you two today!

Dang, I just made myself miss you both even more. But I'm glad you have each other and wonderful prezzies! (and I'm also jealous of the eggs Benedict).

Merry Christmas, you both deserve a wonderful one!

Woo hoo! Awesome haul! :D

Those images on the outside of the box are two of my favorites of Gojyo and Sanzo together. Perfect choices. *drools*

And I am so glad [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass brought that drawing into the most awesome fangirl house ever!
And it was TOTALLY inspired by your fic!...I actually stopped reading in the middle and drew the first little sketches. Guh!

A meat substitute made from mushrooms. ;) I usually don't buy Quorn products, and stick to soy products! There are several really good ones like Morningstar Farms Buffaly Chik'n Wings, Gardenburger riblets and Boca Spicy Chik'n Patties. But I tried a Tofurkey once and it tasted like play-doh with soy sauce on top. This year I spotted a Quorn fake-turkey cutlet and decided to give it a try. I actually liked it.

More than you wanted to know, I'm sure!! Hee!

Nonsense! I'm actually always interested when people make imitation food.
Actually, that would be a fun project...an all-imitation meal with soy cheese and Tofurkey and then rice-cream or some such thing for dessert. :) (I obviously need to go do some research first.)

From: [identity profile] caeseria.livejournal.com
I was a vegetarian for a year. Was it just me or do you find every soy product tastes like overspiced...something? LOL

Tofurkey..sounds hilarious but tastes awful. Glad it wasn't just me! :)

Oh, Melinda and I once went to a vegetarian Mexican restaurant in Burbank CA... it was actually vegan. It was weird, like this hole-in-the-wall in this sorta scary neighborhood, but they had AMAZING FOOD. And all of it was vegan-- fake cheese, fake meat, fake dairy desserts. Melinda actually loved her food. I was as surprised as she. ;)

From: [identity profile] jedishampoo.livejournal.com
It depends on the product! I've been vegetarian since January 2, 2000... and I've tried LOTS of stuff, LOL. The products I listed taste like their counterparts-- Melinda the super-carnivore will eat those, no problem. Oh, and veggie corndogs, but then hotdogs are pretty much mystery meat, anyway. :) Though sometimes I'll be like, "this is good and doesn't taste like soy" and Melinda will taste it and say, it's been too long since you ate meat... Heh. Even I'll admit that Tofurkey is completely unacceptable, though. And OMG-- I have a can of stuff called "TUNO." I've had it for six years. I'm afraid to open it, LOL!

(A lot of times, though, we just cook recipes from vegetables and grains and eggs and whatnot, and skip the fake meats.) :)

You see, I find that absolutely fascinating.

But the problem with my idea is that I would need to locate edible imitation vegetables as well. Apparently people don't bother too much with making those.

I did hear a rumor about a recipe from the 60's for an apple-less apple pie made out of Ritz crackers, though.

Date: 2008-12-27 05:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jedishampoo.livejournal.com
OMG I remember that recipe... it used to be on the back of Ritz boxes and I was a box-reader as a child. Can't remember if we ever made it, though. I'll have to call my mom tomorrow and ask. ;)

I do actually still eat a lot of veggie stuff, it's just a throw back to when I was a veggie full time. Tofu is fine, I actually don't mind it. I still have veggie vermichelli in the cupboard, made of beans and peas (how I'm not sure, but it tastes damn good...!)

TUNO sounds scary...LOL I have a packet of frozen veggie wieners in my freezer, I'm scared of that, but also scared to throw it away...!

I still can't go back to eating red meat though...ergh! *shivers* the most I'll do is pork if I have to. I tend to live on chicken and fish instead these days.

For a few years I ate no fish, then twice a year, and lately I've had more fish than that. SUSHI! ::feels guilty but they taste so good::

Date: 2008-12-27 06:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caeseria.livejournal.com
Ah, but it all depends on what kind of vegetarian you are! :) I used to eat only fish and no dairy, actually I still only do milkin my tea. Can't stand dairy otherwise, ergh. :)

Mmmm...kappamaki sushi..yummy!

My best friend won't eat anything with *quotes* "Lungs" LOL Still, she makes some amazing food, I will admit. Some of the vegetarian stuff is great!

Not snowed in at the moment. Very unusual rain. Now the rain is melting snow and flood warnings because the groud is frozen and no where for the rain to go. I am not worried about my house but some of the roads I take to work may get a bit of water build up. Not a big deal. Then possible snow tonight. Which means lots o' ice. :) And darn I do not have any ice skates.

BTW the picture from saltcandy is cool!
