Hi! Sorry I haven't replied to all my good flist wishes from the last post. But I'm bringing two silly pictures to make up for it.

First are the awesometastic boots I bought at Von Maur in Indianapolis. They aren't as slouchy as they look in the picture, and I'm not showing my top half because I'm wearing a giant pink sweatshirt and wet hair. But here are the boots:

From the side!

From the front!

What I need to go with them is a military-style jacket. So I can be sekritly geeky and yet fashionable.

And today, I baked scones! So they're a little flat; maybe I suck at using a rolling pin. But I made us a proper American tea-time (complete with PG Tips tea and marmalade). And, why, yes, that is a dorktastic tin tray with "England" emblazoned across it; what of it? Blame [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass-- she bought it. >_>

In good news: I convinced my parents to get high-speed internet! I wasn't able to use it much because it was installed the day I left. Though in true technologically deficient form, by that evening I received desperate calls from my parents because (a) they'd managed to screw up the digital connection and had no cable TV, and (b) they could not figure out how to move their bookmarks over from AOL. Like a good daughter I said (a) hide the new remote from Dad and (b) copy and paste, you lazy things. Why yes, I am a bossy daughter.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. :)

I approve of those boots. I approve hard. They're totally hot, and I bet you wear the friggin' hell out of them.

And the scones look delicious. Nom nom nom...

Love the boots!! I am jealous of your ability to wear high heels - I don't have the strength in my ankles to do it anymore - too wobbly, and the last thing I need is to break my leg again. I do love high boots though - I got a steal on eBay last year on two pairs (one black, one brown) of the big-girls-wide-calf ones in riding boot style- not easy to find in my size, and real leather - and jumped on it. I loves 'em.

And the scones look yummers - were they plain, as in just flour ones? I want a good recipe for oat ones, because I love anything with oats in it, but I can see how if it wasn't a good recipe they would come out like round doorstops (shades of the Reload episode with the killer meatbuns. *lol*) And don't feel bad, I am a fellow Anglo-geek. The first place we went on our honeymoon was the Folger Shakespeare Library. ^____^

The boots are gorgeous. I is wanting a pair BADLY. *.* -envies-

And is that clotted cream? XD I'm a sucker for scones, except for the ones with sultana raisins in them.

They were flat and rather crunchy, but extremely tasty. I made eight of them three hours ago and there's only one left. :)

Thank you! ::hugs::

Yay! I thought they were super-smokin'. Well, compared to the rest of my boots which are in the "Doc Marten" style. ;)

The scones were YUMMY! :)

Hee, despite the fact that I am nearly 6', I wear heels all the time. Except in boots; these are my first hotcha-mama boots. :)

You definitely don't want to break your leg!

The scones were definitely plain, flour, not too sweet-- I don't care for the raisins in most of 'em. And they were super-tasty! No oats, though. :)

Love the scones! Boots: I can't wear heels, so I'm afraid I can't appreciate them properly.

And I LOL'd at your advice to your parents. Bossy daughter indeed.

OMG awesome boots! I'm so jealous - my feet are for crap, and I can't wear high heels **le sigh** -_- So I shall enjoy them vicariously through you!!

And yum, scones ftw! I made scones last week - but mine had cherry in them. ^_^

Those boots rock! (As do you in them). And I can so sympathize with getting the parents 'high speed' ready. It was pretty much the same situation at our house when we set them up...then left!

Much approval on both the boots and the scones! I really like the little buckle on the ankle. The boots look comfy too, which is a plus.

Teh boots totally rule, my friend, I want to lick them. *snort*

As for scones, true scones hot and fresh from the oven make me giddy with joy. Hey! I want to lick those, too.

*giant hugs*

Hey! Another tall broad! Back before they started taking hunks out of me vertically, I was five ten, and with the heels I used to wear, I was well over six feet at times. I loved it - and miss being able to wear them. I can still wear some platform jobs, if I feel steady enough on them. Only problem now is I am still about two inches taller than my hubby in my bare feet on my shortest days *lol* I wore my new platform sandals to a wedding with him last summer, and felt like I was looming over him all afternoon. Probably good for him... keep him in line. At 5'10" I was the shortest in my family - mom was an inch taller than me, Dad 6'2", and my bro that passed away last year was 6'7"! He actually got out of going to Viet Nam because of his height - then they raised the requirement, called him back again, and he missed it because of his extreme nearsightedness (something else he and I shared.) Didn't break his heart, believe me! ^_____^

And I agree, raisins are sucky in things like scones. Dried cranberries might be good, though. Yours sound good - would you mind emailing me the recipe sometime? I have just been getting back into baking lately, but don't always feel like going through the whole yeast bread thing.
