Scones and boots.
Jan. 24th, 2010 04:13 pmHi! Sorry I haven't replied to all my good flist wishes from the last post. But I'm bringing two silly pictures to make up for it.
First are the awesometastic boots I bought at Von Maur in Indianapolis. They aren't as slouchy as they look in the picture, and I'm not showing my top half because I'm wearing a giant pink sweatshirt and wet hair. But here are the boots:
From the side!

From the front!

What I need to go with them is a military-style jacket. So I can be sekritly geeky and yet fashionable.
And today, I baked scones! So they're a little flat; maybe I suck at using a rolling pin. But I made us a proper American tea-time (complete with PG Tips tea and marmalade). And, why, yes, that is a dorktastic tin tray with "England" emblazoned across it; what of it? Blame
sharpeslass-- she bought it. >_>

In good news: I convinced my parents to get high-speed internet! I wasn't able to use it much because it was installed the day I left. Though in true technologically deficient form, by that evening I received desperate calls from my parents because (a) they'd managed to screw up the digital connection and had no cable TV, and (b) they could not figure out how to move their bookmarks over from AOL. Like a good daughter I said (a) hide the new remote from Dad and (b) copy and paste, you lazy things. Why yes, I am a bossy daughter.
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. :)

Date: 2010-01-25 12:32 am (UTC)And the scones look yummers - were they plain, as in just flour ones? I want a good recipe for oat ones, because I love anything with oats in it, but I can see how if it wasn't a good recipe they would come out like round doorstops (shades of the Reload episode with the killer meatbuns. *lol*) And don't feel bad, I am a fellow Anglo-geek. The first place we went on our honeymoon was the Folger Shakespeare Library. ^____^

The scones were definitely plain, flour, not too sweet-- I don't care for the raisins in most of 'em. And they were super-tasty! No oats, though. :)

Date: 2010-01-25 04:37 am (UTC)As for scones, true scones hot and fresh from the oven make me giddy with joy. Hey! I want to lick those, too.
*giant hugs*

Date: 2010-01-25 09:10 am (UTC)Those boots are awesome. The fact that you're wearing folded blue jeans reminds me of South Italy so much! :D Okay, he doesn't wear jeans, but his outfit is blue!
Also, what are scones like? I've never had one before.

Date: 2010-01-25 10:11 pm (UTC)The scones are sort of bready, dense-ish, and not too sweet. They're excellent with butter and marmalade or jam (though I guess they dump cream all over them in the UK).
