Not! Just random updates!

Bleah, I thought I broke a filling so I went to the dentist today. Turns out the filling was broken and the tooth was a little, too! I thought, Oh, Noes, it's root-canal time! But the dentist thought one of those nice, new, white, bonded fillings would do. And since he'd already given me lots and lots of Novocaine (ouch), he replaced the filling next to it and fixed a chipped tooth next to that. Time in dentist's chair: 2 hours 15 minutes. Cost: $165 (helluva lot cheaper than a root canal).

I brush and floss almost fanatically, so the dental technicians always tell me what a good job I'm doing, but I still have the worst teeth! Genetically, that is. My brother has already had all his out and my parents have all their teeth but they're riddled with crowns and fillings and bridges, just like me... grrr.

In other news, sharpeslass and I have finished our fics for valentine_smut, yay! Hmmmm, wonder what I should write next? I have so many things!

That's all the excitement for today. Tomorrow is Wednesday, yay! The week is almost half over.

Yay... sounds like a good day all the way around. I mean it's never good to HAVE to go to the dentist (the scare me a little) but it worked out better than you thought so that's good!

Can't wait to read VTS fic although will hopefully be at the con when they are first posted. We are having snow again and I am worried that Kare kun won't make it in. My fingers are crossed that at least she will make it in.. even if late.

I haven't been to work since last Thursday. *sigh*

Ugh, I hear you on the genetically bad teeth - I get mine from my mother's side of the family and it's a pain in the ass! Glad you didn't have to have a root canal though.

It's a pain having bad teeth, right? Know what's sickening? sharpeslass has had one cavity in. Her. Life. How is that fair, I ask? I'm surprised I haven't developed an addiction to Novocaine, seriously.

I recently had to make the call on getting another filling vs. getting a crown my insurance wouldn't cover. Here's to hoping when that breaks down I'll be able to afford a crown, hahaha.

I feel your toothish problems - mine are dreadful and I always have to have stuff done to them. The procedure sounds pretty straight forward, and that's lucky! Usually you go in for one thing and they end up fixing a gazillion. *g*

Considering all the fic I've written lately, maybe I should have participated, but then the fic on my computer wouldn't have gotten done.

I'm glad you didn't need a root canal. I wound up having two on the same tooth once because I didn't get a crown; I learned my lesson from that.

Oh, you always have to have a crown. That doesn't stop them from going bad, though-- that's happened to me, too (I spent $1000 on a tooth and finally just had it pulled because it was so horrible.)

Having just one month to finish in deterred me. That, and the pileup of 30_kisses stories I have for my Eiri/Shuichi from Gravitation claim from when the computer with them on it was out of commission; I needed to post at least one by the end of January to keep my claim.

Ouch! I hope never to have a crowned tooth go bad.

As odd as it sounds, I'm thinking of participating in 7thnight_smut, even though the word count requirements are higher. I find writing AUs fun, and you can work in details that can make the story longer. I'm finding that to be the case, anyway, with what started out as an AU based on the kink meme prompt of prostitute!Sanzo given to virgin!Goku as a birthday present that's turning into an odd mix of smutty romance, thriller, and science fiction. (Nii's in it as another of Sanzo's clients; hence, the thriller and science fiction aspects.)

btw, thanks for telling sharpeslass about my rec of "Things We Can't Untie". It makes me happy to know that people whose work I rec at nitro_recs know about it. (And thanks for letting me know about the screwup with sarubaby's drawing.)

I agree about the AUs; 7thnight has ended up being tons of fun for me, despite the fact that before this fandom and that exchange in particular, I was not fond of AUs. Now I am!

My dental life has improved dramatically since all my mercury fillings have been slowly replaced.

And the invention of sealant? AWESOME! I haven't had a cavity in years. When I was a kid, we would just schedule a filling appointment right after my cleaning so I wouldn't lose more school time.

But I got sealants at 15 and didn't have another cavity until I was 38. Then I redid the sealants.

Maybe I should look into having them all done with sealant? I haven't had a cavity in over two years (that's GOOD for me), just these fillings, but sheesh, maybe it would help. :)

Talk to your dentist about it. It cost me $500 here in Atlanta. But they really work for me. My saliva is so acidic, it just eats through my teeth.
