I've Been Traumatized by My Wii Fit.

I... I got on the Wii Fit tonight. It was bad enough when the little animated balance board told me that it had been 142 days since it had last seen me (K Sanzo) and exhorted me to work out every day for best results. That was over quickly, however.

The next horrible part was the Wii Fit telling me what my Body Mass Index is, and exactly how much weight I'd gained in that 142 days, to one decimal point. Woe!

The worst was when it said "Oh, too bad, K Sanzo. It looks like you didn't reach your goal. Would you like to try a more reasonable goal?"

OH IT WAS HORRIBLE WEEEEP.

Sigh. I would recommend the Wii highly, but not Wii Fit unless you want cute electronic thingums telling you how freaking out of shape you are. :)

Oddly enough, that actually makes me want to get one. I already weigh myself daily and chastise myself when I fail to meet my goals. I doubt that hearing a little electronic voice do the same would phase me.

It's disheartening (especially when they plump out the little Mii to 'resemble' you), but Wii Fit is pretty fun. Oh...I don't even know how long it's been for me... -_-;

I think I'd feel about it the way I feel about the voices on those navigational GPS thingies they have in cars these days. I'd probably feel like ripping the thing apart.

Thankfully it's not a voice, just words on the screen, but it does chirp at you in a very perky chirp as background. Oh, and it GROANS when you step on the balance board.

Actually, Sanzo and Hakkai and Goku are Miis on my system, and they do things like step aerobics and hula-hoops with me. I'll have to take pictures of them sometime!

Still, if it makes you feel better, you can whip me in Mario Cart when I get out there in April for the annual convention (assuming you'll all be around the week of April 10th through the 18th?).

I remember getting you that Wii (around this time last year) ... and watching you get on that board for the first time! Oh how time flies.

I've hated that idea since I ever heard of it. The Wii is supposed to be a toy = entertainment = FUN. Adding on to heaploads of cultural messages about our bodies = NOT FUN. And not the best way to get you to have fun with the toy!

I wish it had said, "Been a long time! Can't wait to play with you again!"
