...but I'll update, anyway!

Things are pretty quiet, here in Indianapolis. I'm still looking for a job. I've put in a dozen or so applications, several for jobs that would be perfect for me if people would only call me back! I might start looking at some freelance stuff-- I'd been holding off until I'd thought I might hear about some stuff locally, but in the meantime I need some money to live on! Still, my parents have been pretty awesome about me moving all my stuff in and eating their food and using their water and electricity.

And at least I have people to hang with-- most of my old friends are still here! I was talked into going to a biker-slash-country bar in Bargersville, Indiana, last night, for a fish fry and karaoke, and my friend Sarah and I are counting that trip as one of those little adventures that life offers. I spent a day with friends in Bloomington visiting the IU Campus, the IU Art Museum and several brew-pubs, as well as a Tibetan restaurant owned by the nephew of the Dalai Lama. (When they ask you how spicy you like your food, think twice before saying "as hot as you make it." My lips are still burning.) I'm having a cookout next weekend and am making margaritas and mojitos. My mom bought me some herb plants and pepper plants to supplement my old herb garden that's gone wild, so we have tons of fresh chives, thyme, dill, mint, basil (OMG LOTS OF BASIL, it takes over) and oregano.

Now bring on the jobs, please! :) I hope you all are doing well, my flist.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you to find an amazing job soon.

Hang in there and enjoy the vacation, for now!

Thank you! And haha, I'm not used to having vacations "at home." I feel like I'm not doing anything though I know I'm not being totally lazy. My mom is glad to have me around to help her, at least. :)

::hugs you::

Yay!! I'm so happy to have more babies to care for. Er, meaning the plants. I'm one of those plant-people, the kind who talks to them.

Did you say BREW PUBS?!! I'll have to come visit. And what is Tibetan food like? I'm very interested.

I'm happy to hear from you and I'll keep my fingers crossed for a job.

*hugs*

It is perfectly acceptable to follow up your resume after three or four days with a phone call (unless is says "no phone calls"). Sometimes they get busy and you have to remind them that they need to hire someone... specifically you. I kid you not, I called one television station every week for a month and they finally hired me. Be persistant!!

Yeah, I've called a couple of places... and will slate some more for Monday. :)

Ok, why does biker bar + fish fry strike me as funny?

...maybe I'm just cracked. XD

Oh, apparently this bar has a different "Free Food" every night. There's a Free Taco night, and every Thursday is Free Fish Fry. The bikers were very friendly and sang lots of country karaoke, and we didn't have to buy our own beer, hee! :) ::Hugs back::

*hugs* Mmm. Brew pubs and Tibetan/Himalayan food. Does the world really get better than that? We've got several great Himalayan restaurants in my city (though mainly Nepalese) - always great food, and the momochas in one of them are to die for!

Best of luck in your job search! Keep plugging away at it, and don't be afraid to call if you don't hear anything. The worst an employer can say is that they've already hired someone else, and if they're still doing interviews, there's a good chance you'll get one, too, if you sound interested. Rock 'em, babe!

Oooh, Nepalese... I'd love to try it. (I'd always wanted to trek Nepal, up to Everest Base Camp. I hear it's rough country but beautiful.)

Thanks and yeah, I'm going to start making some calls... I've saved every version of every resume and letter I've sent, ha. :)

I'm keeping the faith for the job hunt ... but it sounds like you are adjusting well and having some fun to balance things out. I admit though, I'm jealous of you making margaritas ... I miss them already!

Good luck! I'm sure you'll find something soon.

I've never heard of a Tibetan restaurant before. I wouldn't have guessed that the food is that spicy!

Fresh herbs, mmmm!

It was the first Tibetan restaurant I've seen, too... they had lots of "egg-noodle" dishes. And bean-thread dishes. And mine was so red from chile when it came out it looked like kimchee. :)

Is it weird to be back where things grow and are green?

Best of luck with the job hunt. With your skills, something will turn up I am sure.
