Hey y'all! Merry Christmas, or if you don't celebrate that, have an awesome, happy December 25. :)

Thanks for the cards, those who sent them! They brightened my evenings when I dragged home from work. In the dark and the cold.

Wow. This is my first Christmas in eight years with my family in Hoosierland, 'cause I was in Las Vegas for eight years. My dad is thrilled. He was so thrilled that he sent me with his credit card to the Thai restaurant to pick up a nice, traditional Thai Christmas Eve dinner for everyone here. (Somehow I've gotten my father hooked on Thai food.) So we're having satay, curry, and padd Thai, with Christmas cookies for dessert.

Christmas eve dinners with sharpeslass were even more traditional: since it was her birthday, we'd head out to a local bar for an evening on me of food, drink, and video poker. I do miss it. Happy birthday, M!

Now I think I'll go do something even more traditional: read fanfic. Woooot!

As tomorrow approaches and I know I have to spend the day with certain family members I would rather see less than more of, my internal Grinch is grumbling very loudly, but it can't stop me from wishing you and your wonderful family the very best of Christmases, my friend. As I said in a birthday email to sharpeslass, my family of friends - you and she included - more than makes up for what I don't get from the family I was born into (yet another of the million and one reasons why I love Saiyuki so much!)

Thanks, dear! It could have been better, but it certainly also could have been a whole lot worse, too, so I will consider it an alright day, all in all - best part is that it's over with, and we are already formulating plans to make sure next year is not so trying. Besides that, the foot of snow we got on the 26th more than made up for any negative feelings floating around on the preceding day!

Mmm, Thai food on Christmas - sounds awesome! My family usually makes vegetarian lasagna. (My dad is a vegetarian, and I don't like turkey or ham. So that just leaves my mom and sister and it's not exactly worth it to make a whole turkey just for two!)

Your dad is a vegetarian, too? Wheee! The family had ham on Christmas day so I ended up with a fake chick'n patty sandwiched in a dinner roll, hah. But the Christmas Eve Thai was yummy.
