Stuffs... and sharing holiday fic and art for me!

I hope the new year is treating everyone well so far! I start a diet again tomorrow (The Game On! Diet), and boy, do I need it. I've been overindulging this holiday season. :)

My friend Shane once again drew me some fanart for my holiday cards. Over the years he's drawn me everything from Obi-Wan to Saiyuki! Last year and this year he drew me Hetalia fanart, specifically of America and England doing goofy holiday things. Here's this year's artwork (if you got a card from me you've already seen this, with bling):



Also, I joined the Hetalia usxuk community's secret santa 2010, and I got an ultra-cute England/America fanart from voicekitten! I even got the original in the mail, and how awesome is that? And one of my favorite Hetalia authors, moonlighten, has started a very fun England & America story for me as a holiday gift! It's called Five Dates that Weren't, and One that Was, and the first chapter (of six) is done and I can't wait to see the rest. While you're there, you should check out all moonlighten's Hetalia fic, 'cause it's good stuff with humor and history and emotion-- there's some Prussia/Canada, some Scotland/France and lots of awesomely done UK siblings.

Tis the season, ne? Good luck with the diet! I had the fear of god (or massive illness, more accurately) put into me when I was diagnosed with lupus last spring, and changed how I eat drastically, and have lost 75 pounds so far. Good thing, too, since I found out I was diabetic this fall. I still have at least another 75 to lose, which is my goal for 2011. I've fought it all my life, and I know all too well how hard it is to get it off and keep it off. Best wishes with it.

And thanks for so much for my Hetalia card, and Happy New Year, my friend!

Wow, you've lost 75 lbs? that's AMAZING! Go you! :)

I'm doing the Game On! diet-- it's fun and you have to eat really healthy stuff (and you get it five times a day). And you have to keep score. I'm not competitive except against myself, but thankfully the people I play with are more supportive than BOOYAH.

Actually, I'll bet that with your diabetes, you have to eat somewhat healthy anyway, right?

Yeah, that was the really ironic thing, the way I had changed my eating towards was basically a good diabetic diet -- cut out as much processed sugar and starch as possible, lots of fruit and whole grains, etc. So I do that, it works, but I STILL end up becoming diabetic anyway! But at least I had a head start on what I would have had to do anyway. And I have been looking into natural supplements to help (cinnamon actually seems to be one that works.) I still buy some sugar-free chocolates so I don't have total chocoholic withdrawal (they really aren't half bad!)

*waves hi* I'm glad you had a good holiday. Ally got Hetalia DVDs for Christmas and is playing China in a Hetalia RP on Tumblr. Good luck with the diet.

Yup! America has a lightsaber, and England's holding a sword. Maybe Excalibur or something. :)
