It's actually a decent time to be in Indiana. Things are flowering and blooming that I haven't seen in nine years-- some things I'd planted myself and had never seen bloom! We have at least ten kinds of daffodils, some tulips, bleeding hearts, hyacinths, snowdrops, flowering trees in pink and purple and white and yellow, and... LILACS.

My parents have four different kinds of lilac in about seven huge bushes, and I missed them tons! When the lilacs bloom within the next couple of days, the yard will be insane with beauty and that lovely lilac scent. Wheee! Here are some flowers I cut to take into work today:

In other news, I've offered again for a home, so wish me luck that the negotiations go well and I can get it down into my price range. This one is actually a newer home than the others I'd been looking at (only twenty years old). It seduced me with its brand new roof and efficient, green furnace and water heater, and new kitchen appliances. If I don't get it, there's a 1960s ranch with a pink bathroom that is still unclaimed. :)

HAPPY FRIDAY, everyone!

I love lilacs, but around here, they bloom later. Surely you're not further south than I am? (NJ suburbs of NYC) Or are you? Wait a minute, you're near Cincinnati, which is near Kentucky, which probably is further south than me.

Those flowers are gorgeous. I'm glad being back home is working out well for you. Good luck with your new offer! I'm sure you'll find something you like.

We might be slightly south of you, but I doubt it. :) I have pics of lilacs to post, now, too! The only ones that haven't bloomed yet are the French lilacs, the dark purple ones. :)

Oh, I will post a picture of some lilacs soon, just for you! And hopefully the French lilacs should bloom here any day... :)

Them flowers are really pretty. =/ I wish we had more of that in the city. It's green in Singapore, sure, but we don't seasonal lilacs, they just don't grow in our climate.

Good luck with the home! The description sounds like my dream cottage.

Good luck with the house this time -- sounds like ours - twenty years old, geothermal heating system (I LOVE IT!)that ties in with the water heater, and I believe our roof was five years new when we bought the house in '09. We did have to buy new kitchen appliances (all but the fridge) and washer/dryer, but it gave me a chance to switch the house over to propane (the natural gas of rural living *lol* - I feel like Hank Hill.) It's cheaper to use, greener, and I HATE cooking with electric!

You should have a pretty easy time getting the price down, from what I hear about the real estate market these days. I know there are houses still on the market here that had been for sale for a good while when we were looking two years ago. And we got our house for 100 grand less than what the owner had originally listed it at (and it was not an expensive house - he just had it way overpriced, to start with.) Again, good luck - fingers crossed for ya!

Thank you! I should hear about the house today... any time. I'm on pins and needles. And everything else. :)

Like you, I prefer gas cooking to electric! And the owners were not wanting to come down too much, but I'm hoping they'll accept my "final offer" that I sent yesterday. Eeeee so nerve-wracking!

Good luck - I think these things happen as they are meant to happen. If you end up not getting it, it's only because there is a better house out there for you. If you do get it, it's meant to be your home. Will keep my fingers crossed for a good outcome, either way, my dear!

OH! Lilacs are one of my favorites. I nearly cried when a neighbor cut his down recently. Your garden flower bouquet is just beautiful, and I will send positive thoughts your way regarding your offer on the house! *hugs*

Ack, why would anyone cut down a lilac? Nuttiness. :)

Oh, thank you-- I could hear today if they accepted my final offer. Or I could start looking again, sheesh.

oh man, lilacs. We had a neighbor that had a monster lilac tree when I was in elementary school and every spring when I would walk home from school I would pick some and bring them home to mom (I had standing permission from the neighbor). I wonder if I could talk mom into helping me get a lilac tree to put in my yard. I want flowering trees. WHen I lived in Upstate NY I hated it, no flowering trees anywhere, except...I think they were tulip trees but that was it. no dogwood, no redbuds no lilacs, nada, just pines and maple trees. Blah.

We have tons of monster lilac bushes! :) Actually, two of our bushes came from New York originally-- Long Island, specifically. My grandfather planted some in the 1920s and my dad brought some cuttings down in the early 80s. So we have a very old plant going!

I'm eating my heart out. To have lilacs in April!

Good luck with the offer. I hope you manage to get it down far enough that you can switch to hardwood and tile the bathroom in pink before you move in, and still find the payments manageable.

Oh, the lilacs are AWESOME right now. If it wasn't raining so much the last couple of days we'd just sit in the back yard and enjoy the scent. As it is, I cut a bunch and took them into work. (Sorry, rubbing it in.)

Thank you-- oh, I should definitely keep myself a pink bathroom, no matter what. I should hear today about my final offer. :hugs:

I love your flowers. mmm I need to go tend mine as well. Last I looked the tulips had not bloomed yet.

The tulips are about half bloomed right now. I think we're only a little bit south of where you are. :) Thank you!

Good luck with hte home buying. I'm sorry the other didn't work out but you do not want to go into a house knowing those sorts of repairs are necessary unless you can afford it and the time. This is when you really miss landlords!

Good luck!

Ack, I already know I'll need money to repair stuff, but I'm not looking forward to it. Or maybe I am. I'm so torn! :)

More May flowers, of course!
