Hello all! Thank you for the birthday wishes. I am now the answer to life, the universe and everything, but still know nothing!

I close on the house on May 31-- OMG. I will be so darned poor, I swear. But I'm looking forward to getting in there and getting all my furniture and getting my BOOKS out of storage and getting some pics to send along! You won't believe the paint job the owners have given this place-- it's a lovely, clean home, but has a half-purple/half-spongy-purply-brown kitchen, and a lavender bedroom. And the borders! I'm going to be scraping borders off the ceilings in at least four rooms, believe you me.

Phew! Now I have to exercise for 20 minutes so I can get my Game On! diet exercise points. All I want to do is sleep. Mom and I drove two hours there and two hours back to Cincinnati today for a Reds game. It rained the whole way there, during the whole game, and the whole way back. We're still damp, and my hands hurt from driving all tensed up (the rain made visibility for shit) and my throat hurts from yelling at my boys and booing the St. Louis Cardinals-- my boys' arch-nemeses-- but the game was great.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. ♥

Hey!

Border, as in wallpaper border? If so, we found a really neat trick for getting wallpaper off in a half jiff when we helped a friend strip their dining room. You get one of those wallpaper perforator things (you know, to poke a gajillion holes so you can get down to the glue? If I remember right, you move it in circles and it cuts slashes in the stuff) and then you put Downy in a spray bottle and spray it on. Let it sit for a little while to penetrate, and then you can pretty easily scrape it off. A couple caveats though - one: it's slippery. Two: don't let it sit too long on bare wall or it will leave blue streaks that have to be washed off.

Hope that maybe helps you! Good luck. ♥

Oh, I've heard that about the Downy-- yup, they're wallpaper borders, all along the ceilings. Does the perforator scratch the paint, too? I'd decided I could live with the paint (briefly), but the borders MUST GO.

Thank you, baby! ♥

Ack, sorry for the late reply!! But yeah, the perforator does scratch the paint a little. Maybe just additional applications of the Downy would do the trick? Better than scraping. Not sure how steamers work, having never tried one...

Ugh, wallpaper is hideous; I loathe it very much... :P

*hee* You two are so awesome! I'm guessing your boys won? I can't wait to see pix of your house ... my house is mostly painted aubergine *shifty eyes*

Our boys did indeed win! A sweep of the Cardinals, yay! I probably should have noted that... :)

I wouldn't call this kitchen "aubergine," really. It's... purple. Like the purple surrounding the comments on my LJ? Don't know if that shows up on your screen. AND it has a "grapes" border along the ceiling, and a bunch of stuff hanging on the wall like "Vino!" and "Italia" signs and curtains with grapes on them and OMG. ♥

I am happy for your new house. That is good news. :D
I am all to familiar with scraping wallpaper. We had to do that for a lot of walls in the house we have now. It was worth it to get it off and get new paint.

PICTURES - Take before and after shots.

Baseball fun - yea!

I can't wait for it to be mine so I can take pictures! And glad to hear the work is worth it. :) (One house I looked at was lovely... except for the wallpaper in EVERY ROOM. Flowered, striped, swirled-- it was bonkers!)

also Happy birthday! I am a year older than you and I still do not know the answers to life the universe and everything. You will need to tell me when you figure it out. LOL

Happy belated birthday! I had a card for you--it got lost in the move and I haven't gotten another out. So know I was thinking of you, am thinking of you, and wish you the best year ever! I know it's going to be exciting to have your own house--and I can't wait to visit. Good luck with everything!

Hee! I was totally thinking of you as I wrote this post, too. ♥ I actually only booed whenever Chris Carpenter (because he's a dick) and Jadier Molina (because he's the one got into it with Brandon Phillips last year) got up to bat. It was tons of fun.

The purple is bad enough, but the wallpaper borders are the worst.

So did the Reds win?

Good luck with the house -- it sounds like you have some stripping (of wallpaper, silly) and painting to do. Which is worse, though: a lavender bedroom or a tomato red one? That's what our bedroom was like in our first house until we repainted it a nice neutral shade.

At least it'll keep you busy and out of trouble!

Sorry for the late reply! The Reds did indeed win, making their first three-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals since 2007. Wooo!

I wouldn't mind the wild paint... if it was in colors I liked more myself. :)

Thank you!! :) Ah, birthdays suck anymore until I get used to the idea of being a year older.

I forget my age sometimes. It's wonderful when people say 'Hey, how old are you?' and you answer 'I'm twenty thr-- wait. Thirty eight.'
