I went to my first "Party" Renaissance Faire Saturday, woohoo! A Renaissance Faire in Las Vegas-- go figure. I've actually been to one with my Mom before, and [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass has been to plenty, but this was the first time I've been wenched out at one of these things.

Here are some pictures! http://members.aol.com/somejedigirl/renfaire.htm

We did run into two Jedi, who had all Anakin and Obi-Wan hair. Not too shabby, if the Obi-Wan was a little short. Well, to me, anyway. And I'd threatened to wear my Jedi costume after my first bodice-fitting at home. Jedi must be much more comfortable than wenches, I think.

There was drinking and lucky us, we ran into some friends who took us with them to the after-parties.

The dress was [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass's, and it fit fine but the first bodice she lent me-- OUCH! It was made for a 5'4" woman, not an Amazon like me. [livejournal.com profile] sharpeslass tried to tell me that "some people can take the pain better than others," but really, I was in massive non-breathing, panic attack mode! We loosened it up so I could DRIVE for heaven's sake, and when we got there, our first stop was at a clothing booth. The owners, this gal and her husband, took one look at me and said they could fit me a whole hell of a lot better than that thing. The black one I'm wearing in the pictures is the NEW and IMPROVED bodice. Now I have my very own!

Still, though, I didn't eat a bite for 14 hours. Beer must have kept me going. I guess it was all those carbohydrates.

Now I want to go to another one! Really, since I haven't been able to afford to attend WorldCon or Dragon Con or JadeCon, I've missed the fannish experience.

Yeah-- a few of the guild people we hung out with after-hours said that they did the California circut. I think a lot of them are over now, darnit. It really was a blast, and I wish I'd been more sober so as to see more of the crafts (though I did buy an emerald ring from this guy who does GORGEOUS jewelry)!

Surprisingly there were lots of belly-dancers. And lots of them were mighty thin for belly-dancers, but maybe that's just Las Vegas. I was wondering whether the belly-dancing was a ren-faire "norm." :)
