Movie I love!
Apr. 3rd, 2006 09:44 amIt had all the usually Miyazaki components: sweeping score, wonderful animation, redemption of characters, something bulbous and evil losing its powers, and a Message (this time it was "war is bad"). Unlike most of his other stuff, however, it was based on a book already written, this time on a young adults book by Diana Wynne Jones. I had to go buy the book instantly. I can't say I loved the book as much as the movie; I personally like the Miyazaki touches.
It was also a little more "adult" than his other stuff, not in tone, but in that he's dealing with mostly adult characters rather than the prepubescent set. There was even a romance!
::sigh:: I loved it so very much. :) Anyone else see it?

The movie touched something, though. I can't really describe it. Spirited Away did the same for me, and Kiki's Delivery Service. Who bawls through Miyazaki films? Me! ;)
