Swapping Fandoms with your Visitors
Apr. 20th, 2008 10:57 amSo, ever swapped fandoms with your RL friends? :)
lexsara has been here for a week, and leaves tonight.
sharpeslass and I will miss her! It's been fun catching up and swapping fandoms with her. She showed us two seasons of Torchwood, I showed her ANIME bwahahah, and
sharpeslass showed her some horror movies starring Jeffrey Combs.
Torchwood wasn't bad, if a bit depressing. I would definitely watch it if it was on. I like Gwen (and Rhys is AWESOME), and I like Captain Jack much also. I want to smack Tosh half the time.
I wibbled about what to show her of my current obsessions-- I started Saiyuki on anime but now I love the manga more, but for swapping, anime is definitely more accessible-- especially if everyone is sitting in front of the TV. I couldn't really hand her 18 volumes of manga and say "read these now." But she really liked the anime, and wants to watch more of it, she said! I jumped all around the 100 available episodes, trying to find a mix of fun and angst, backstory and arcs. I also made her watch some Cowboy Bebop, which she also said she liked. (Last year I made her watch Howl's Moving Castle and Samurai Champloo.) I love fellow friends in their 30s who will give anime a chance.
Today, since it's her last day, is PIZZA from ROSATI's day. It's some really amazing, and amazingly expensive, Chicago-style pizza. And they deliver. Looking forward to that.

Date: 2008-04-21 02:12 am (UTC)I gave one of my RL gaming friends the first two volumes of Mushishi for Xmas, and she liked it, but that's as close as I've come to getting any of my RL crew into manga. Which is a pity, because a number of them like SF&F and some of them like comics too ... don't know why they're so resistant.
