My New Hair. & Misc pics.

I had a PMS-related "self-image" emergency last week. So I finally booked a hair appointment and had my hair chopped and colored and wheee, I needed it. It's a little shorter than I'm used to, but my hair grows so quickly I won't feel bald for long. :)

I asked for chop-chop-get-rid-of-it, an undercolor with red tints, and chunky blonde highlights. Here is what I got!



Here's my new hairdo after my hairdresser styled it (please excuse the office lighting, eeeek! It's so unflattering):




Here I am with re-washed and unstyled hair, with a tree growing out of my head thanks to Mom, woe. But the picture was taken in natural light, which I feel so much better about. :)



Here's my hair on New Year's Eve for comparison (I'm with my lovely lifelong friend Becky at her boyfriend's farmhouse):




And just for randommness, here are some pics I took around our yard during our ice storm a couple weeks back. Look at our poor bird-feeder! We couldn't open it for days.










In other news, I'm almost done with Cryoburn. I'm taking my time with it, in an attempt to not read ::spoiler:: that I already know happens. Woe!

Looking good! I like the new length; it compliments your face much better than the longer 'do.

Eek, ice! I think it's ruined one of our bushes out front and a small tree on the slope out back. Speaking of trees, other than taking pictures of you with one growing out of the top of your head, how's your mom?

I assume Cryoburn is a manga of some sort. If you did, it flew right over my head.

Somehow stuff around here survives. lilacs love a good ice storm. And the daffodils are poking up out of the ground at last.

Cryoburn is the latest in the Vorkosigan series of books, written by Lois McMaster Bujold. I'd call it "character-driven scifi space opera of manners." I've read them all multiple times, and I love the characters so much-- it was a nice surprise to have a new one in the series, since she'd seemed to move on to other books. But I heard about a spoilerific item in this book that I DON'T want to encounter. really.

It seems like you had the same thing that we had about 12 years ago. Back then all the trees were covered with a thin layer of ice. And that's not a good thing, a lot of them broke because the additional weight was to heavy for them. And lookie, you have no snow on the second photo :D

I remember ice storms around here when I was young, but haven't lived through one since I moved to the desert 8 years ago. And yup, there were tree-branches everywhere (except our yard; as you can see, the tree growing from my head has been denuded by men with saws).

And you are right-- the snow is gone, at least. Yay!

Oh, man, I sort of gave the hairdresser my thoughts and then let her choose colors and cut. Maybe if you get brave you could do that? Though your hair is so lovely and dark.

Looks fab!! I love the highlights! And hey - it's pretty much the same length as mine! I'm going Thursday because my roots are atrocious. Still, I wish my hair grew a bit more quickly even if it meant more frequent root touch ups. I've been trying to grow it long for ages. Granted, it's curly, so that takes away some of the length, but I still want it to grow a good 3 or 4 inches longer.

How have you been holding up? I put 1.6 pounds back on. Bleh. My own fault though, because I didn't exercise when I was sick, and I really shouldn't have bought that big bag of jalapeno potato chips, which I ate over 2 days... Oops! I had a craving!! :-P
